Code Secret Santa - Rules 2024

General rules

Once you have signed up, your match will be sent out by the 1st of December. Please reply to the email to let us know that you have received it.

Please meet the deadlines!

If something does come up and you can no longer participate, let us know as soon as possible, so we can arrange a new Santa for your recipient.

Seriously. If you can’t participate anymore, let us know! We’d much prefer to have people formally drop out than to never hear back from you.

If you change your username/URL during this event, please let us know. It can be difficult to figure out who you are and tag you in your gift if the information you provided us is no longer correct.

If you dropped out of the exchange in a previous year without notice, you are not allowed to participate this year.

This is one of only two reasons your application may be rejected. The organisers will not show any bias towards participants; this event is open to all Code Lyoko fans. The only other reason we’ll reject your application is if you haven’t read the rules. How are you supposed to prove that you’ve read them? Well, read on and find out!

If you need an extension please ask so we can notify the person about the delay.

If you ask for an extension and later find out you can’t finish your gift, please let us know. Otherwise, we’ll count you as having dropped out and you won’t be allowed to participate in future Secret Santas.

Please don’t put off making your gift until the last second. People are working hard for you and everyone else, so have fun and spend time on it.

We don’t like having to chase people up so again, please contact us as soon as possible if you need to drop out or get an extension.

Gift rules

On the sign-up form, there are four specified mediums and an “other” option.

Art refers to something that is hand-drawn (digitally or traditionally) and does not include graphic art. Art gifts should be completed and finished. If drawn traditionally, a scan is highly preferred but if this isn’t possible, please take a photo with good lighting.

Fanfiction should be 1000 words minimum. There’s no maximum. If you would like someone to proofread your fanfiction, mod @a-queenoffairys will be happy to do so (unless she’s your recipient, in which case you’ll need to ask elsewhere).

Video should be at least 45 seconds long and uploaded in good quality.

Graphic art is a work that uses official images from the show such as renders and screenshots, and/or other pre-existing images that can be found online. Examples of common graphic art gifts include mood boards, icon sets, forum packs, profile backgrounds, desktop backgrounds, blog headers, etc. If you’re going to be doing graphic art as a gift, we strongly suggest anonymously asking your recipient which of these they would be most interested in or find most useful so that they can get the most out of your gift to them.

The “Other" option can be used to put your own ideas for gift mediums. Examples include handmade crafts such as sewing or needle-felting.

If your gift is hand-crafted, your submission to us should be a photo of it.

If your gift does not meet the requirements we will ask you to fix it.

NSFW gifts are not an option. Please keep your gift SFW.

Your work must be new.

Your work must be your own. Don’t steal from someone else.

How to turn in your gift

Your gift must be posted on the blog you specified in the sign-up sheet.

The tag #xana is automatically flagged as NSFW on Tumblr, meaning that any posts with that tag will not appear on search or tag pages. If you want to tag XANA in something, use #x.a.n.a. instead.

We’re tracking #code lyoko and #code secret santa on Tumblr. Please include one or both of these in the first five tags of your post and/or mention us with @codesecretsanta.

Ideas/Concepts: Code Lyoko X Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2012)

It had been a year since XANA was destroyed, and they all signed up for an exchange program in New York City, North America, wanting a treat. All of them had gotten adjusted in the student dorms when Odd didn't come back from going to see a girl.

Odd had been stood up by a girl, and as he was walking back to the school's dorms, he was knocked out.

The next thing he knew, he couldn't breathe, he's been submerged in thick water the taste was horrid. he tried to swim, but his body was ingulfed in pain. It was a blur when he was dumped out of the liquid and dragged away.

He awoke to find himself in a cell and his body was fully covered in hair and a tail attached to his back. Anytime someone walked in the room, he'd yell at them; he wanted answers, but he was always ignored.

The next night, a teen with red hair appeared and helped him escape to the sewers, and there he met 4 teenage turtle mutants. It was also there that he saw himself in the mirror for the first time.

The rest of the Lyoko Warriors were worried about Odd, and they attempted to go look before resorting to the authorities, only to be captured as well as dumped in the same tank as Odd. They were rescued the next night but were also informed that what happened to them was mutation. The Warriors and the Ninja team try to find a way to turn the young teens back into humans or at least appear human while trying to take down the Shredder, who is abducting and mutating people. For what end, they don't know.

break's over ! vargastober day 21 was posted . two days late

FIRST OF ALL i'll take a minute to talk about what i've been doing . ( not a lot

ah , to be honest . . . i spent most of my time indulging on my current hyperfixation : code lyoko . the whole thing of me getting an hyperfixation with this again is actually super funny to me , if i'm honest . . .

i watched the series for the first time three months ago . i remember watching , notice the change in animation and being intrigued by it . and the character designs and art style were just screaming 2000's to me , so i got fond of the show pretty fast , even without watching it lolz .

the whole thing seemed pointless ? if you ask me , so i decided to watch it while drawing because i thought it wouldn't take a lot of my attention . and it wasn't until chapters five or six that i was like " hey you know what i actually DO want to pay attention to this , what if i watch it and then i spent two weeks binging the series until i was done with it . i remember watching 20 episodes one day , that's 10 hours of code lyoko ! halfway through i did start to watch unhealthy amounts of chapters a day because i really wanted to finish it so i could just get back to my usual schedule ( waking up > doomscrolling in tiktok until 2am > actually working on something ) . IF I'M NOT DRAWING I FEEL LIKE I'M WASTING TIME . it's not like i do anything in the first place ???? so WHAT ARE YOU EVEN DOING GET YOUR ASS BACK TO THAT CHAIR , OPEN CSP AND DON'T TAKE YOUR EYES OFF THE SCREEN UNTIL THE SUN RISES . ( clears throat) um yeah . and series just CONSUME MY BRAIN there's no time to draw to sleep to eat to be social so i don't really like to get into new shows . . . with movies is different because they're short ! i used to watch a movie a day while i had lunch but i kinda exchanged that with my daily code lyoko time ?

okay , i'm talking nonsense . WHERE WAS I . i watch code lyoko , and then i see the light . " is this the end ? am i finally free from this fandom ? am i getting a new ultimate hyperfixation ? " i think to myself , with tears in my eyes .

. then hawker decided to read vargas and her reactions basically pulled me back to the fandom without even noticing . GREAT !

( if i'm honest i was afraid i would lose inteest on vargas after getting obsessed with the show but now i see it's not as easy as that

BUT , then i decide i want to watch the full series once again , this time with my sister ! and they're airing it on tv , so . . . why not . a chapter a day , should be pretty chill . we watched seasons one and two on tv , then we had to switch to youtube because the channel airing it didn't have the rest of the seasons ( yet . well , watching it again made my brain IGNITE once again so hey i'm back hahaaha

my average day was waking up > watching a code lyoko fan series called code lyoko beyond ( super good btw ) > waiting until my sister got home so we could watch code lyoko on tv > talk about code lyoko > read code lyoko fanfiction before going to sleep .

MY BRAIN COULDN'T TAKE IT . GOD . i even started having dreams about code lyoko .

we watched code lyoko + code lyoko evolution + the first chapters of season one ( because she didn't see most of them ) and now we're going to watch code lyoko beyond and after that i'll show her ifscl ! it's a difficult game but i want to get better at it . . .

ugh i'm going crazy thanks to a straight ship . is that even possible this day and age . . . /j

idc , jerlita is actually yuri for me . I LOVE LESBIANS /hj

i don't know ough they're just super cute ! and i love jeremie a lot . . . so

i blame angel of mine for this whole thing . that song is so jerlita coded .

okay . . . also , on saturday , i was just going through my phone while my sister was watching and for some reason i open undertale and i randomly start to play it . i don't even know why i still have undertale on my phone ! i just downloaded it for a friend and installed it to test it . anyway , i decide to do a no mercy route just because i'm there and uuuhh i don't know

i played undertale for the first time when i was like , 12 . i had it on my computer , and god my pc was so bad so my game was laggy most of the time . it wasn't so bad , though . . . sometimes it was so slow i could even watch and process some attacks before they hit me . but i mean it also made it super hard to play , for obvious reasons . and okay , while i was playing i did try to make a no mercy route but i would ALWAYS get stuck with sans . i remember resetting hundreds of times so i could actually idk , get it right that time . but god , nothing was working . i would keep dying at that last attack .

and i'm thinking . so . . . it's been like , six years . i played the sans simulator and beat it 9999999 times already . the sans fight it's easy for me right now because i memorized it almost completely ! i also have a pc that can perfectly run undertale so hey . why not give it a shot . i get undertale , and i start my no mercy route .

god , i actually wanted to do that for a while already . but reading handplates completely messed up my brain . i was like ough i want to play but a part of me was like " YOU KNOW THEIR SUFFERING WHY WOULD YOU MAKE THEM GO THROUGH IT ONCE AGAIN " ( sunny it's a game , PLEASE ) so i told myself i'd NEVER do a no mercy route ever again , i'd just play it on my phone , finish the pacifist route and let them be happy . kind of what i used to do with the gaster ukagaka . . . i'd open him , then let him sleep for hours because i just thought he needed sleep lol and avoid making uncomfortable questions because i didn't want him to have a bad time . shit , i even promised myself to not see the skelebros ever again because he seemed stressed once they got back . aaaahhh i'm a MESS anyway that feeling is kinda gone so

i beat undyne neo in a single attempt ! i really love her fight . also , killing all of hotland's monsters is the coolest thing if you choose to do it at the core . the core's monsters are so cool man , and you get to hear that banger while you fight them .

so , well , i get to sans . . . AND BEAT HIM IN TWO ATTEMPTS ( jumping around I WASN'T EVEN TRYING ON THE FIRST ATTEMPT , so idk idk . still . I GET TO FINISH MY NO MERCY ROUTE , FOR THE FIRST TIME IN 6 YEARS . great

this whole thing reminded me that i STILL didn't finish ut yellow's no mercy route , that i got stuck with the final boss and never finished the route . the whole thing about playing undertale made me want to finish it again . . .

uh oh , spoilers for undertale yellow's no mercy and pacifist routes ! if you don't want to get spoiled just scroll for a while . . .

so yeah , i get stuck on martlet and i never finish the game thanks to that . god , her and ceroba's fight were super hard for no reason . i'm not a fan of the shooting + dashing gamemode thingie . too many things to focus on all at once ! and god , looking back at it i don't really know how the fuck i beat ceroba on the pacifist route ! mf's fight had like 999999999 stages ough

for both of their fights , i actually had to write notes down and try to memorize their attacks instead of just moving around like crazy yknow

i downloaded ut yellow back in december last year . i played pacifist route , started no mercy route and then i get to martlet and don't open the game for 8 months

i was looking for tips to beat her , and i found two things . first , people were TALKING ABOUT A SECOND PHASE ? holy fucking SHIT , i really thought i was close to finishing the battle but i really wasn't . second , one of the comments literally said that i should just wait until they released a patch because half of the fights were almost impossible ? ?? ????? and im like okay

after pushing through for a while i actually got to the second phase ! and i was thinking " okay i probably have like , an act option that gives me some of my hp back !! ( i didn't ( so i just stare at the screen in disbelief thinking how the fuck am i going to finish the fight in the first place . i have all of my hp back , but even if phase two is shorter since you can actually attack in the first place ? there's no way i'm going to last more than three rounds even with full health . i go back to reddit , and actually read the tips . this is a list of what i did :

+ turning autofire on . THAT'S A THING . I HAD NO IDEA . and i think i actually remember watching a ceroba fight with it on . and i didn't know what it meant or how to get it so i just left it like that lol .

+ closing the fight , tried to get more items but i didn't find a thing . . .

+ getting the patch ! ough . this way i could actually get the act option to restore more health . . .

+ changing my ammo to silver ammo instead of the friendliness pellets . . . the silver ammo deals extra damage with perfect shots and i'm good at that . it was so useful

+ turning easy mode on :crying emoji:

after getting all this done , i went through stage one with no problem , and then died but actually managed to beat her on the next round . i remember sitting in front of the screen thinking if i should risk it and attack instead of healing and it worked . AFTER 8 MONTHS , I FINALLY BEAT MARTLET ! i couldn't beat her without all of the shit i changed and while that does make me feel kinda down WHATEVER , I'M PLAYING THE GAME TO HAVE FUN , NOT TO SUFFER EVERY SECOND OF IT . BEING BAD AT GAMES SUCKS . i don't think i'm that bad but eeehhhhhhhhh

got the ending . . . flowey's face creeped me out so much , god . i'm glad my sister wasn't there to watch .

i don't know if i want to make a neutral route , flowey's fight is ABSOLUTELY INSANE but i man i already watched it so idk if it's worth it in the first place . . .

i was supposed to work on the piece for forgotten that day but after finishing the game i spent the rest of the day watching people react to the game and moving files on my undertale file to get easter eggs and stuff . i thought getting gaster's door would be way more difficult than it was ! that or maybe i was just lucky . it took me maybe less than 20 tries .

overall , i didn't start working on the piece until midnight , i think . no matter what day it is , there's still mandatory code lyoko time for me n my sister at 7pm . IT'S PART OF OUR LIFE NOW . so yeah . . . started working on it pretty late . maybe if i did start working on it in the afternoon , i would've finished the piece at least on day 22 . idk idk

i really didn't want to get myself to work on it UGH i know i said i'd keep trying to get pieces done even while i was still on my break but i didn't do shit lol . i do have some code lyoko sketches . . .

so yeah , my way of doing these was waking up > breakfast > lock in and get something done before 7PM and idk finish it after cl time . but i just stopped doing this , of course . there wasn't an actual reason to wake up early so i'd just sleep through my alarms , and even after the break I KEEP DOING IT ugh . I JUST STOPPED BEING USED TO ACTUALLY GET MYSELF TO WORK BEFORRE 9PM , or to work on anything at all . i did doodle some things and made brusk's bday present ( that i can't show here ( but still . ugh . UUUGH

it was even harder because last three pieces just came out of my tiny brain . i'm used to going through pinterest and taking random drawings as references but I DON'T LIKE DOING THAT i feel like i'm stealing people's ideas even if i'm crediting them and even if that's the easy way to do things and i SHOULD PROBABLY JUST GO WITH THAT my brain unconsciously started to put ideas together on its own and now i'm not satisfied if i draw something that i ripped directly from another piece made by someone else . empty , yarn and now forgotten are pieces that , while i did take some things as references , i stil had to put together . i mean THAT'S GOOD BUT I'M JUST NOT GOOD AT IT YKNOW

so well , the reason why i didn't want to get the thing done was because i didn't have any solid ideas . i knew for a fact that i wanted to take this piece as a reference though , while i was making the list i only added this prrompt to DRAW THIS like i'm so serious rn . SO I COULDN'T JUST SKIP THE PROMPT

it was an idea i had for a long time now . i remeber talking to brusk about it , " a family picture of edgar , scri and his grandma but his grandma's face is blurred or distorted . AND IT WAS A SICK IDEA but HERE I AM WITH MY ALTERED REALITY PERCEPTION AND IMAGINING THEM ON 1800 INSTEAD OF 1960 you see my stupid ass searching " when were color photos invented " because my brain GENUINELY CAN'T PROCESS IT . and yeah , once i checked i realize that the family picture i was taking as a reference was actually from the 1810's . i need to be killed .

SO , CHANGE OF IDEAS . i was like uh , maybe i can draw a picnic or something , and his grandmother's face can still be distorted . WHY NOT let's also distort scri's face while we're at it . that was my idea . then i was just searching pictures of picnics and i did that thing where i make a shitty sketch and see if what i want to achieve is at least ACHIEVABLE idk oh god i don't even know why or when i changed ideas but my sketch was looking like this .

which i mean i guess it's not too bad ? but considerably more boring . i just didn't feel like working on a background . and also i had to figure out a whole design for his grandma , because YOU KNOW ME even if i'm covering stuff or distorting parts of the drawing i still need to work on everything because I DON'T KNOW

a design for edgar's grandma . . . i had to use all of my brain capacity to not search " 1960 grandmas " on google and just go with the first thing that showed up . so , instead , i used this post as a HUGE REFERENCE like genuinely thank you so much for this yon-shi you're doing god's work here . i mainly took the stick figures as references , bangs and shoulder lenght hair . i didn't make her hair as long though ,

so uh this is the design i banged up !

i think it works just fine . i added the glasses cords because uh idk it would make sense i think . a nice , flowy dress for a church day . whatever

oh god i'm thinking , did i make her look too young ? does she look too young ? DID I DO IT WRONG i'm ripping my hair out

oh by the way i just started calling her anthea in my head . that's the name of aelita's mom ! i think that now you realize how bad the cl brainrot is getting . /hyp

idk , anthea just fits her . and as i'm typing this i keep catching myself wanting to type anthea SO I MIGHT JUST START CALLING HER ANTHEA WHILE I WRITE THIS who cares

i asked my friends how they imagined anthea looking . . . russ told me that he didn't have an actual mental image for it and yes i mean i did remember that at some point he said that he imagined anthea as a faceless character and i agreed . but he did say that in his piece for memories he made her skintone slightly darker ? is that the word ? idk in spanish it's morena oh well yeah , so i mean that was a starting point definitely

i had to go to sleep , but this was the progress so far !

i also made like , test on the distorted part . i liked these both ! even though i knew i wouldn't use any because that wasn't what i had in mind !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

at this point i decided to leave scri's face as it is . kinda doesn't make sense that his face is also distorted idk

next day . . . i had so much trouble choosing a brush i liked for this one . i told brusk that i wanted to make it look like it was idk painted on a canvas ? so i got some nice canvas brushes . and i remember getting some for sai2 but i just couldn't find a use for them .

i didn't like how they looked for lineart , though . . . so i ended up using a random default brush on csp . i didn't even like it that much and i remember having to make light strokes if i wanted the texture to show up at least a bit . uughh

i finished the line on edgar's head , and i did some edits and quick coloring to it to see if the brush was okay

i think it was okay . idk if the canvas brush is even noticeable but whatever , i didn't want to search for another brush .

their line was done ! lines always take way too long for me , ugh . i sent it to brusk and i told her i would probably still shape it up a little bit more .

i like it . . . more 3d . . .

also , the shading on his shirt took me AGES . i was grabbing random colors and colorpicking them from the reference , i didn't even plan on rendering it like that but one of the brushes i got worked great for that . so i just went crazy . it was the first ( second ) time i tried shading like this ! i think it looks nice . . . but i also don't think it fits my art that much

plain vs rendered ! can you believe that took 30 minutes ? because i don't .

i was listening to code lyoko videos while working on this . watched an analysis of hopper's story , and i didn't know aelita got shot ! it was a nice thing to understand the story better .

i really love season one's jeremie . his voice in spanish is so cute . aaaaaaah . and overall before he turned into a little shit . i also like his little shit mode , and i mean he grew up so of course i get it but there's something so endearing about him in season one

and also . . .

sorry aelita liking your boyfriend wasn't enough i had to go for your dad too

i also decided to play ifscl again ! the whole thing is so confusing to me . . i'm not as good as jeremie . but i figured that maybe if i played the chapters over and over again it would be easy to memorize things . i'm just stupid that's it

BACK TO THE DRAWING it was 4am , and i finished anthea's shading . i added a nice pattern to her dress .

but !!!!!! i always have problems picking backgrounds . i just went with a random color and then slapped filters on it to make it look even worse .

i really , REALLY wasn't satisfied with how it looked . the colors looked odd and the pixel effect thing on anthea's face made it look like i just censored something i didn't like . i sent it to my friends and finn suggested adding a black backgrround and some noise effect , i don't really like adding noise effect to my drawings , last time i added it to one of my pieces it just made the whole thing look bad quality . but i did add too much , at the end . . .

still , i went to sleep for that day .

after playing some more ifscl i worked on it ! added the background , moved some stuff around and woo

added a watercolor outline ( i didn't know that was possible ) and while moving stuff arround i clicked a layer mode and it made everything BLUE

HOW COOL IS THAT

if you know me you probably know i don't work with cold colors a lot . i know how to handle warm colors but not cold colors , really . . . still , i think it gave the ambiance i needed . it really pulled everything together .

then i just added some effects , some saturation and motion blur and FINALLY DONE

i really like this piece . that's all

hmm now i'm thinking what would it look like if i also added the distortion thing to scri . . .

god i'm tired of writing . i need to work on today's piece , then watch our daily code lyoko chapters and get ready to watch dungeon meshi with my friends . uugghhh

Gods Complication, Log 3

Chronos walked past the lines of the universe portal one more time. This time, something caught his attention.

The new universe he saw has split into 2, and one of these splits is shattering.

What happened here?

Quickly, Chronos rushes over and peeks into the universe.

Herve Pichon and Taelia Stones have managed to found the super computer, have Aelita arrested and have the super computer shut down.

The smug green creep has the audacity to ask Aelita for a date in exchange for her life and freedom.

So THAT’S how it is. Chronos has always hated Herve, but now he hates him even more. Before destroying this split piece, Chronos decided to have a little fun.

Herve’s smugness ticked Chronos off, he dared to have this sweet girl arrested and have her friends trapped.

“Not so fast!” Chronos warned.

Herve turned around, his smug quickly went away at what he saw.

“What… what are you?”

Chronos didn’t respond, he simply raised his hand and snapped his fingers. Instantly, the officers arresting Aelita vanished into thin air.

Aelita let out a sigh of relief, but she was unable to stand up.

“H-how?!” Herve screeched.

“Simple, you have broken the fundamental rule of the universe, to stay out of Aelita’s way, you disgusting pervert.”

“Fine!” Herve spat. “I can simply call the officers again!”

“Can you?” Chronos taunted

As Herve was about to walk away, he realized he couldn't move. He started to panic, Chronos smirked as he walked over to Herve.

“Back off!!” Herve screamed.

But Chronos wouldn’t budge and kept walking.

“Back off, or I will-” Herve screamed again.

“What will you do, hmm?” Chronos taunted again.

Chronos grabbed Herve’s neck.

“Any last words?” Chronos asked.

“What?” Herve screeched.

Chronos didn’t respond, he simply snapped Herve’s neck with no effort. Herve went limp and crumbled on the floor. Taelia froze in place as Chronos turned around to face her.

Taelia dropped to the floor, breathing heavily just as Chronos walked over to her.

“Wait, no stop!” Aelita pleads

Chronos stopped, he turned around to face her.

“Why?” Chronos asked. “She is the one who did this to you.”

“She’s… She-” Aelita stammered.

“I get it, she is still your cousin, but she did it without a care for your well-being.”

I thought it was okay. Taelia thinks. Everything sounds cool from her diary…

Chronos snapped his head back to face Taelia, scaring the red-haired girl to no end.

“What do you mean it was okay, huh?” Chronos asked. “What makes you THINK reading her diary was okay.”

Chronos leaned down to face Taelia directly in her eyes.

“I can hear your thoughts, you know.” He added.

Taelia gulped.

“Tch, whatever, you are staying alive.” Chronos spat. “It’s not like your existence is any useful for me.”

Chronos turned around, walking towards the supercomputer screen. He raised his hands, launching a delayed Return to the Past program.

“So long, my useless subjects.”

Chronos leapt out of the universe portal, back to the array of multiverse portal.

He let out an evil smirk as the shattered universe began to fade.

Not me venting about Code Lyoko in 2024 but... Okay look, like I know full well it was intended to be a children's show, but having rewatched it as I got older I couldn't help but note about how much wasted potential was there.

I mean, hello? An extremely fucked up AI computer system that was so powerful that it could rewrite time and reality itself? There was like a whole damn conspiracy there and the literal only ones that knew anything about it or could stop it from pulling a GLaDOS on the whole world was a group of like five children.

Like, dude.

Do you know how much story potential they could have done with if they had just kept a bit of the stuff that happened in the season finales and not pulled that bullshit reset stuff? Like, if they kept Jim in the know because, again, these were kids and like wasn't he an actual soldier or some shit and having someone on their side that could actually bail them out by making a cover for world saving shit would be exceedingly useful. You could've even had a whole sub-storyline about seeing adults as people with flaws and pasts and how from maybe a more experienced point of view wanting to do the 'right thing' yourself versus knowing when you're over your head and asking for help can genuinely changes things, instead of just having them be flat roadblocks for the kid's world-saving.

Then not to mention there was that whole mess with William that never really did have a satisfying resolution? Like, dude, the sheer potential of things that could've gone that down with that potential plotline but didn't (not to mention that one blonde foreign exchange girl?)

I wanted to like the show so gosh damn much because the premise of people going into a digital world to save their own was tight as shit when I was a kid but the execution of the mess was honestly kind of mid. Like, this was one of the few shows that actually, kind of frustrated me to rewatch as an adult?

Just thinking about it makes the writer in me sigh because...

It could have been so much more.

If anyone out there is a fan of both The Promised Neverland (manga) and Code Lyoko, I wanted to share an idea I had for a crossover fic that I'll never actually write.

Spoilers for both series.

So, first off for this idea to really work I'll have to change a few details in both series' canon.

For Code Lyoko, it would change the way the replikas work. Basically, the new idea is that the other supercomputers also have scanners and everything, and that when they are devirtualized from one of the Lyoko copies, they're devirtualized for real into that scanner connected to it, wherever that is. They're really there, they do not still have their Lyoko powers, they basically just teleported to a different location. No different than being devirtualized into their factory. So when they need to go back, they have to go to the scanner just as they would from Paris. Also, they have whatever they took with them into the scanner.

And for The Promised Neverland, it would need to change what year it takes place. I'm thinking this would be after the group reunites with Norman and is living at the hideout, but before Ray and Emma go to the Seven Walls. But also still somehow have it match with Code Lyoko, which took place in the mid 2000s.

So the actual fanfic idea is that the Lyoko Warriors, while trying to locate and destroy all the replikas, stumble upon one that's connected to a supercomputer somewhere in the demon world. Ulrich and Yumi are the ones who get devirtualized this time, and before they can find the supercomputer, they run into Ray and Emma. Both pairs think the other is an enemy at first, but once they actually talk, they quickly understand the situation.

They end up forming a mutually beneficial alliance - the Lyoko Warriors will help the kids escape the demon world through the supercomputer and get set up in the human world, and in exchange they will help fight X.A.N.A. Probably that would involve getting a few kids at a time into the virtual world, and they'd have to either build another skid or add more seats to the skid or something to transport them through the digital sea.

Also, maybe X.A.N.A. starts launching attacks in the demon world.

Also this idea would probably have to explore exactly how they plan to destroy the supercomputer AND get back to the scanners. I'm thinking a program that is on a timer that destroys everything but once they run the program, they only have so long to get back to the scanners before they get stranded, since there's nothing Jeremie could do on his end.

Anyway, I wanted to at least throw this idea out there if anyone is interested. Just because I thought someone might like the thought, if there's anyone else out there in both fandoms.

The kids who isekai themselves to a videogame-like dimension to save this world or something like that!

A group of OCs that never relaly come out of the concept stage.

General and shared story: They found this strange place with some sort of hyper technology and transporters that put them on what they pinpoint as some RPG videogame that sets them into classes automatically. The second time they enter, they try to tweak and modify the game so they can choose their class, but it's impossible; they accidentally do exchange bodies in an attempt to hack the codes and give them classes they actually wanna play. They keep trying to modify it to personalise their characters, but soon discover that the game is linked to some evil monsters coming into reality and something something has to save the world something something from that second reality. Quyickly give up into higher personalization. I'm sure there was some closeted trans subtexts 17 years old Frey was working on with this disphoria and imposed classes.

OC n 79 Dominique LaFleur Pronouns/gender: She/her Young lady Age: Highschooler Nationality: French Occupation Class: Hunter Short Story: Little sister of two or three brothers. She's big, she's sweet, she would not fight you but she would cry. She's a weightlifter and won a couple tournaments, like her bros. Very inspired by those gifsets of a cute blonde strong woman who jumps all happy. Fun Fact: She takes over Matthieu Body, since she wanted to play something pretty and flexible like the cat. Cat design is inspired by Odd Code Lyoko.

OC n 80 Adeleine Pronouns/gender: She/her roudy girl Age: Highschooler Nationality: French Occupation Class: DPS Short Story: with very poor health, Adeleine pass more time in hospitals than anywhere else. She WILL fight you, and she would kick your ass for making Dommy cry. She and Andrew end up dating. Fun Fact: Got REALLY annoyed when she entered the game and was automatically put on the soft flower delicate magic healer type. Instead she wanted some really cool ass fighter type. Someone who can be on the action. You can see her design, she was one of Kurotsuki's designs.

OC n 81 Matthew Pronouns/gender: He/him. Unsure Age: Highschooler Nationality: French Occupation Class: Tank Short Story: Popular kid on the school, he have a good taste on music and a sonftboy edge to him.Matt likes emo music and is best friends with Andrew, who connected him to the girls. Fun Fact: He didn't mind playing a DPS originally, but absolutely found out something about himself when got Dominique's body. Strong and protective, but indiscutibly such a sweet and feminine edge. That something nurturing was what he was lacking.

OC n 82 Andrew Pronouns/gender: He/him extra rowdy boy Age: Highschooler Nationality: French Occupation Class: Healer Short Story: Can't built muscle for shit, but lover of every sportsball and specially of running. He's part of different extra-school activities sport-related, where he met Dominique and became friends Fun Fact: Despite loving sports, he's certain tired of that being the first thing people associates him with. He wanted to embody a magic character who could do and create, so he end up with Adeleine body.

1. How many works do you have on AO3?

156! (Technically, 158, but two of them are in a fandom fest and will be anonymous for 2 or 3 more weeks I think). Also I want to mention that I don’t use ao3 for fics exclusively – actually I plan to slowly archive all my visual fanworks there as well!

2. What’s your total AO3 word count?

280,716

3. What fandoms do you write for?

Code Lyoko is my main fandom and has been for about 12-13 years, though I wrote my first fic for it a bit later, in 2014. Harry Potter is still my second largest by the works posted, but besides a long-standing WIP and fandom exchanges/requests here and there, I don’t touch this fandom anymore. Current second favorite is Stranger Things :)

In general I have about 18 unique fandoms (without counting sequels/adaptations and original works) on my ao3 profile, but most of them have just a handful of works each.

4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?

God my stats after fully moving to ao3 are fucking depressing xD Let’s not talk about it.

5. Do you respond to comments?

Yes! It’s usually not a long conversation but I love to share details about my works if anybody asks questions.

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

Angst is my second name xD Almost a third of my works on ao3 is tagged angst, so it’s hard to pick one, but I’ll mention this (technically untitled) oneshot (Code Lyoko, Odd/Aelita)

Usually I love angst and open endings but with this one it bothered me so much that I actually have plans for a sequel to give these characters some happy ending for god’s sake.

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

… okay that’s even harder question. Let’s say this one (also Code Lyoko, also Odd/Aelita). Disregard that it starts from another pairing’s breakup

8. Do you get hate on fics?

Not really? Nowadays I don’t even get that many comments (I hate the spambot that I get on ao3 all the time with passion), but even prior to that the most heated thing I’d see in my comment section is “your OC is a Maru Sue”. And they’d list the characteristics that another commenter mentioned as the reason they think the same OC is well-developed and not MS at all! To each their own, I guess

9. Do you write smut?

I’ve published… five fics that have sexual content in one way or the other, and only one of them is explicit. Truly, I’m not good with something above erotica level. I do have plans to write more smut (for petty reasons) but these won’t see the light of day for a few month because I’m saving them for a fandom event

10. Do you write crossovers?

I rarely get good plot ideas for crossovers (I gravitate towards AUs mostly). I’ve posted 2 (a oneshot and one neverending WIP)

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

A few times, yeah. One of my HP fics almost reached 3k likes on the website that was my main posting platform prior to ao3, so as you can imagine, at some point shit hit the fan. Also had one microfic (or microoriginal, to be precise) stolen as a fancy text for social media post. Luckily in each instance they were deleted quickly.

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

Nope (at least nothing I know of, I have blanket permission on my profile), but I do translate fics myself :)

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

Not really. I have a shared setting/universe idea with my best friend, but we mostly wrote and drew our own separate things in it, our characters not interacting. I worked on co-translating multiple fics however.

14. What’s your all time favorite ship?

I guess Oddlita? I don’t usually have “OTPs” as in “the only ship I ship in a fandom”, but since it’s from my main fandom and they’ve been a favorite for over a decade, they kinda get this status. But I ship insane amount of other ships in this fandom (including the ones contradicting my favorite) xD

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

At one point I got a kick for a very specific poetry format and I decided to write parody/retelling of the original series in poems. I covered 3 episodes and never touched this thing again.

16. What are your writing strengths?

I think I’m pretty good with making it sound poetic, playing with sentence length and structure (maybe that’s why I find writing fic in English so hard and limiting, idk).

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

I’m so bad at plotting it’s not even funny xD For some reason my brain tends to create a single vague scene idea with no start and no end. I’m a chronic oneshot/vignette writer.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

It depends? If it’s a phrase or two – fine, great, no problem. Otherwise we are starting a footnotes hell (have you read fucking War and Peace? I did), unless you’re writing for an audience that for sure knows both languages well which is. Very specific. So for long dialogue I prefer to keep it in one language, maybe highlight in italics, and if it’s from a POV of a character who doesn’t speak the language, break up the dialogue with notes how POV character doesn’t understand what is going on.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

Merlin BBC. Never finished that fic.

20. Favorite fics you’ve written?

Why these questions are so hard xD I’d say this microfic (Code Lyoko, William/Yumi) because back when I originally posted it my readers thought it was smut from the first paragraph and just screamed at me in the comments xD idk I just remember that interaction so vividly it makes me cackle every time

Third most comments: technically I have 2 fics sharing the second place ([Fanart] Lakrissa and Alfira in Elfsong Tavern — a Baldur's Gate 3 fanart I did for Rare Femslash Exchange 2024 and [Aesthetic Collage] Кофе для самой красивой девушки — greatmage collage set I did for Across the Universe fest 2024), so the "third" place goes to Secret admirer — Harry Potter oneshot (in the form of letters) I did for 2024 Prongsfoot Fest (I think we have a pattern here lol)

Fourth most bookmarks: I actually have very few bookmarks, so the 4th place with 2 bookmarks is shared by... 8 fanworks. I'm going to mention Снаружи [Outside], my long-term WIP. Code Lyoko and Harry Potter crossover leaning towards sci-fi.

Fifth most words: Дневник Мэтти Хокинс, which is a translation of The Diary of Mattie Hawkins by Be_the_Spark. This is a fic in Humans fandom that I originally found on wordpress blog and decided to translate even before it was complete. The translation is 7,550 words

Fewest words: This one was a bit tricky to check since I also have fanarts and podfics etc on my ao3, but I think it's Broken — a fan-poem in Code Lyoko fandom. 69 words!

Second most kudos: A Burning Question, with 184 kudos! My Encanto/Disney Hercules crack crossover one-shot that I wrote in one sitting while heavily caffeinated one night.

Once you have signed up, your match will be sent out by the 1st of December. Please reply to the email to let us know that you have received it.

Please meet the deadlines!

If something does come up and you can no longer participate, let us know as soon as possible, so we can arrange a new Santa for your recipient.

Seriously. If you can’t participate anymore, let us know! We’d much prefer to have people formally drop out than to never hear back from you.

If you change your username/URL during this event, please let us know. It can be difficult to figure out who you are and tag you in your gift if the information you provided us is no longer correct.

If you dropped out of the exchange in a previous year without notice, you are not allowed to participate this year.

If you need an extension please ask so we can notify the person about the delay.

Please don’t put off making your gift until the last second. People are working hard for you and everyone else, so have fun and spend time on it.

We don’t like having to chase people up so again, please contact us as soon as possible if you need to drop out or get an extension.

Gift rules

We will only ask for your address if you have answered “Yes” to this question and if your Santa is making a gift that can be mailed to you. The information will only be visible to the moderators and your Santa.
